  • Golden Gate Bridge from Battery Spencer

One of the most iconic locations in San Francisco is the Golden Gate Bridge from
Battery Spencer in the Marin Headlands.

Shoot it during the "Blue Hour", bring a tripod for best results.

There were people stablizing their cameras on fence posts and getting
pretty good results.

It's hard to go wrong shooting at this scene at the right time.

  • Shot in the Dark

Long exposure, combined with high ISO. The night was quite dark. The hills
were lit from lights from the Golden Gate Bridge and distant San Francisco.

  • Battery Kirby Tower

Front Lighting was with spotlight reflected off the ground.
Probably around 5 seconds of front lighting.

After lighting the foreground, I ran up to the tower to pop my
strobe (with blue gel filter) a few times.

Glow of the sky provided by the lights from the Golden Gate Bridge.

Exposure time was 30 seconds.

  • Graffiti at Military Battery near Kirby Cove

Found another military battery near Kirby Cove Campground.
From the campground, I followed some social trails that led me to
this battery.

I felt like an archaeologist discovering petroglyphs
of a lost civilization. It was fascinating and
creepy at the same time.

Best to use the food lockers at the campsite.
Raccoons will stop by and check your campsite
for security loopholes.

I found this fellow actually inside the dumpster
with the lid closed. He gave me a surprise when
I opened the lid to dump my trash.
