Our first sightseeing stop on the journey to Death Valley. Located a few miles
off of Hwy 190 a the (ghost) town of Darwin.

The restaurant at Stovepipe Wells opens for dinner at 5:30pm and sunset
was at around 7:15pm. We had to eat quickly and hit the road.

We didn't know exactly where to shoot, but ended up at Devil's Cornfield.

We placed a Coleman lantern inside the building and lit the foreground
with a spotlight, feathering the edges of the beam.

Ambient moon light, combined with sidelighting from a Coleman latern.
Interior lit with red gel'd strobe.

Some free transform processing in Photoshop to straighten the building
lines.

The moon and clouds give this a look of a HDR composite, but it was captured
in a single shot.

The moon finally came out from behind the clouds to provide some ambient light,
combined with side light from a Coleman lantern. Accent lighting on the
block wall with a red filtered flashlight.
