Alvin Tenpo > Bandon, Oregon

Caught this image while waiting for the sun to set. The quality of light was wonderful so we walked around looking for anything that would capture the quality of side lighting.

I had scouted this location hours before the sun set. We anticipated where the sun would set and tried
to find an interesting composition with the sea stacks.

I tried my best to keep find a position that would best keep the sea stacks separated.

Early morning shooting. It was great staying at the Sunset Motel. I could wake up early and walk down to the beach and be shooting in 10 minutes.

It's great shooting in the mornings. It's quiet, peaceful and no wind.

More shots from the early morning.
I like shooting with the 12mm to capture a foreground image as well as objects in the background.

I used a 2 stop hard graduated neutral density filter to balance the light in the background and foreground.

More early morning shooting. Again , I used a wide angle lens to capture foreground and background along with a 2 stop graduated neutral density filter.

I tried keeping the rock formations separated.

Shot after sunset taken from a coastal access trail.

I used the graduated neutral density filter again. I was surprised at the difference it made in bringing out the color of the sky.
Alvin Tenpo > Sweet Creek Trail, Mapleton, Oregon
The trail follows along Sweet Creek and in some spots, the trail
becomes a catwalk along side the canyon walls. You can see
the catwalk in the upper left quadrant of the image through
the foliage.

I used a polarizer filter to cut down reflectance. The light coming off the leaves on the left side of the image would result in excessive contrast, so I used a graduated neutral density filter angled to cut down the light.
