Alvin Tenpo > Georgia Pacific Rail Barn, Old Lumber Mill, Fort Bragg, CA

We had parked our car in the public parking lot behind the Company Store in Fort Bragg
to go to dinner at the Mendo Bistro.

The parking lot is located between the tracks for the Skunk Train and the Georgia Pacific
Lumber Mill that was shut down in 2002.

After our meal at Mendo Bistro, the sun had long set, but there was plenty of light
provided by flood lights from the security gate.

The rail barn is on G-P property behind a chain link fence.

It was a windy, cold and clear night when this image was captured.

8 second exposure at f5.6 at ISO 1000.

The G-P property is a non-performing asset and up for sale. However, the property is
fraught with toxic waste cleanup issues. Article from the SF Chronicle:

Alvin Tenpo > Skunk Train Van, Fort Bragg, CA

We found this neat old van parked in front of the employee gate of the Georgia Pacific
Lumber Mill.

The scene was lit from flood lites on the rail barn (upper right). Behind us were the
rail cars that reflected the flood light and providing front lighting for the van.

I think the greenish cast comes from light reflection from the green rail cars.

The cypress trees were lit from the left by flood lights from a motel.

While we were in Fort Bragg, we took the Oddities of Fort Bragg Walking Tour.

This tank farm is one of the sites listed in the tour.
